Results on elect.ng come from photos of the result sheets (Form EC8A) pasted at polling units, uploaded by verified voters, accredited observers, journalists and party agents.

Result statuses

  • Unconfirmed – submitted but not yet checked. Treat with caution.
  • Platform-verified – passed automatic checks (arithmetic, duplicates, photo integrity, matching independent uploads) and a human review against the photo. This is not an official declaration.
  • Official – matches the result published by INEC.
  • Disputed – conflicting uploads exist or the figures were corrected.

Automatic checks

Party votes must add up to valid votes; valid plus rejected must equal total votes cast; total votes cannot exceed accredited voters; accredited voters cannot exceed registered voters; the same photo cannot be reused for a different polling unit; and edited photos are flagged.

Audit trail

Every change of status is recorded in an append-only log. Each entry is chained to the one before it with a cryptographic hash, so tampering is detectable. Anyone can inspect the evidence and history of any result.

Historical results

Results for past elections (2019, 2023) are imported from the open Nigeria 2.0 dataset, an independent transcription of INEC result sheets, and are labelled as such.
