elect.ng is Nigeria's civic and election network: one trusted place where voters, candidates, political parties, journalists and observers meet, organised around every state, local government area, ward and polling unit in the country.

Why we exist

Elections in Nigeria are fought on social media, in WhatsApp groups and at rallies, but the information voters need is scattered, hard to verify and easy to manipulate. Candidates struggle to reach the people they want to represent, and voters rarely get a direct, accountable line to them.

elect.ng fixes that. We give every Nigerian a verified voice, give every candidate a fair and equal platform, and put evidence behind every election result we show.

What you can do on elect.ng

  • Know your ballot. Find your polling unit, see every election you can vote in and compare the candidates on it.
  • Hear from candidates directly. Read manifestos and policies, ask questions in public, join town halls and track the promises they make.
  • Join the conversation. Post, comment, run polls, follow the people and places you care about and message other users privately.
  • Protect the vote. Report incidents on election day and upload photos of polling-unit result sheets (Form EC8A).
  • Follow results live. Watch results come in by polling unit, ward, LGA and state, each one linked to its evidence and audit trail.
  • Look back. Explore the 2019 and 2023 presidential, governorship and senate results down to local government level.
  • Support a campaign. Donate to the candidates you believe in, openly and within the law, or promote your own message with transparent, labelled ads.

Our principles

Verified, not exposed

Each person can hold one verified account, confirmed once with any Nigerian ID: a National Identity Number (NIN), an international passport or a Permanent Voter's Card (PVC). We never show your ID number publicly. Your profile shows a verified badge, nothing more.

Neutral by design

elect.ng does not support any party or candidate. The same rules, tools and prices apply to everyone, from a ward councillorship aspirant to a presidential candidate.

Evidence before claims

Every result carries its source, its result-sheet photo and a clear status: unconfirmed, platform-verified, official or disputed. We never present our numbers as INEC's. Only the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declares official results.

Nothing changes silently

Every change to a result and every moderation decision is recorded. Result changes go into a tamper-evident, hash-chained log that anyone can inspect.

Transparent money

Political ads are labelled with their sponsor. Advertisers can choose to list them, with their spend, in our public Ad Library. Donations follow the limits in the Electoral Act 2022 and are recorded for audit.

Free civic information

Core election information, including candidates, results and polling-unit data, is free for everyone, with or without an account.

Independent and non-governmental

elect.ng is an independent, privately run platform. At present it is not part of, funded by, endorsed by or affiliated with the Federal Government of Nigeria, any state or local government, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) or any other government ministry, department or agency. It is not affiliated with any political party or candidate either.

Nothing on elect.ng is an official government or INEC publication. Only INEC declares official election results, and its own website remains the authority on timetables, candidate lists and voter registration.

Everything in our newsroom, election history, leaders directory and incident archive is written in our own words from public sources, and every story lists the sources it used with links, so you can check them yourself. Read our Disclaimer for the full list of sources we rely on, including INEC and Wikipedia.

Who uses elect.ng

  • Voters who want facts, a voice and a direct line to the people asking for their votes.
  • Candidates and parties who want to explain their plans, answer questions and organise supporters.
  • Journalists and observers who need reliable, evidence-backed information on election day.
  • Civil society working on voter education, accountability and election integrity.

How we are funded

elect.ng is funded by optional, clearly labelled advertising, small platform fees on ads and donations, and paid verification badges for organisations. We never sell your personal data, and no advertiser or donor can buy influence over our moderation, our results or our rankings.
