President Bola Tinubu’s campaign for a second term formally begins on Saturday 24 October 2026 in Kaduna State.
The plan
The date was announced by Senator Abdulaziz Yari, Director-General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council and a former governor of Zamfara State, after a meeting with the president at the Presidential Villa. “On 24 October, we are going to have our flag-off in Kaduna State,” he told State House correspondents.
After Kaduna, Yari said, the campaign moves to Rivers State (Port Harcourt) and then to Maiduguri in Borno State. Tinubu has approved a timetable of state visits, which the campaign said it would publish after the council was inaugurated. The president inaugurated the council at the Presidential Villa on 14 October.
The pitch
Yari predicted a landslide, pointing to the number of states the APC controls, which he put at more than ten in the South and more than ten in the North, and said the campaign would focus on the government’s record. Kaduna Governor Uba Sani has been rallying support for the president ahead of the flag-off.
Why Kaduna
Kaduna is one of the North-West’s biggest prizes, and the northern vote matters to every camp: the ADC’s Atiku Abubakar and the NDC’s running mate Rabiu Kwankwaso are both northerners. Insecurity on the Abuja–Kaduna highway was raised again this week by critics, including PRP chairman Hakeem Baba-Ahmed.
