Violence in Rivers State during the February and March 2019 elections included clashes involving soldiers, armed groups and party supporters. INEC said its staff had been intimidated and that collation centres had been invaded, and it suspended the governorship process in the state.
The army denied taking sides and said it was responding to violence. The process resumed in April, and Governor Nyesom Wike was declared re-elected.
